The convention will also offer youth competitions and dance contests. All contestants will be reimbursed the entry fee. The convention also includes activities for kids, fun on the river for all ages and primitive camping. Canoe tours,both short jaunts for the inexperienced and long tours for river veterans, will be provided by local canoe outfitters. Friday gates open at 9:00 am with primitive tent camping, entry and on site parking for $15 or onsite parking and entry only $10. Free entry for children under 12. Saturday gates open at 9:00 am and competitions begin promptly at 1:00 pm/ Limited RV spaces with no hook ups are available for the weekend for $50.00, payment is required in advance. No dogs allowed and no alcohol, drugs, or firearms allowed! So far it had been almost exclusively Patrick County talent....but that is a pretty deep well in this county! $5 admission at the door goes directly to musicians. The shows are recorded on Friday night in front of a live audience and rebroadcast in half hour segments on Tues and Thurs on WHEO radio 1270 AM at 11:30 AM. 5/18/2012 The Historic Star Theatre PO Box 414 Stuart, VA 24171 Bar B Que dinner and Music Fundraiser for Mount Vernon and Mendota Cemeteries on May 18th. Dinner is from 5:00 - 6:45 and music is from 7:00 - 10:00. It will be held tat the Mendota Community Center. Music will include Dale Jett plus Special Guest Heather Pace. This is a benefit concert to help with maintenance and upkeep of the Mendota and Mount Vernon Cemeteries. Thee are old community cemeteries that do not charge fees for burial. They rely strictly on donations.
